The Icon Generator turns one source image into every icon size an app or website needs — 18 iOS sizes, 6 Android densities, and 11 web and favicon sizes — packaged as a ZIP with the correct folder structure and manifest files already in place. Upload a square image (1024×1024 is ideal), choose your platforms, and download. Every icon is rendered locally in your browser with canvas, so your artwork is never uploaded.
iOS: 18 files — 20, 29, 40, 60, 76 and 83.5pt at their @1x/@2x/@3x multipliers, plus the 1024 App Store icon. Android: 6 — 48 (mdpi) through 192 (xxxhdpi), plus the 512 Play Store icon. Web: 11 — 16 through 512, covering favicons, apple-touch-icon, and PWA manifest sizes. You can also add custom sizes up to 2048.
No. A background colour is always painted behind your image, so a transparent PNG comes out with a solid background — white unless you change it. For iOS that's usually what you want, since App Store icons may not be transparent. If you need a transparent favicon, this isn't the right tool.
It's scaled to fit and centred, keeping its proportions, with the background colour filling the space above and below (or either side). Nothing is distorted or cropped — but a square source still gives the best result, since a wide logo leaves large bands of background in a square icon.
PNG for anything going to the App Store or Play Store — both require PNG app icons, and the tool warns you if you pick another format with those platforms selected. JPEG and WebP are useful for web icons where file size matters. Whatever you choose, the generated Contents.json and web manifest reference the files actually in the ZIP.
Folder structure you can drop straight into a project: ios/AppIcon.appiconset/ with its Contents.json, android/mipmap-* per density plus a play_store folder, and web/icons/ with a manifest-icons.json you can paste into your web app manifest.
No. Every size is rendered in your browser using canvas. The image never leaves your device, so you can safely use unreleased branding.
